Furthermore, they are national and international partners of numerous projects and initiatives. Ennstal Group is a non-profit housing company established in 1947, consisting of parent company SG Ennstal in Liezen (Styria), ENW in Graz (Styria), Gewog Ranshofen (Upper austria), Vorstäditsche Kleinsiedlung Klagenfurt (Carinthia), Kärntner Friedenswerk in Klagenfurt (Carinthia) and SG Elin in Weiz (Styria).

Members of Ennstal Group are public utility companies which specialise in property management and social-housing with accounting, maintenance, technical services,… etc. for approximatly 30.000 apartments.

The "Heimbau" is a limited-profit housing association . It is constituted as a cooperative having its office in Vienna.

The development and construction of housing projects , mostly subsidized rental dwellings, and the management of the dwellings are the main activities of the "Heimbau". MIGRA Gemeinnützige Wohnungsges.m.b.H. was founded in 1951 and has been based in Vienna since 1984. The focus of MIGRA lies on the construction of subsidized flats and subsidized furnished dormitory apartments in Vienna. With the creation of affordable housing, MIGRA is making an important contribution to keep rents in the growing federal capital of Vienna affordable in the future. With great commitment MIGRA is pursuing the construction of flats and dormitory apartments, providing people in Vienna with inexpensive living that offers high quality at the same time.

In addition to affordable living space, MIGRA is committed to ecological and sustainable construction and regularly builds pioneering residential projects. The residential home in Molkereistrasse recently celebrated its 10th anniversary. At the time of its completion, it was the largest passive house in Europe. In the Seestadt Aspern the two projects "Seestern" and "Vierplus" were awarded by the “Österreichischen Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen” (ÖGNB) and klimaaktiv.


The ÖGNI - Österreichische Gesellschaft für Nachhaltige Immobilienwirtschaft, is an NGO (non-governmental organisation) for the establishment of sustainability in the construction and real estate sector. The aim of the ÖGNI is to demonstrate the added value of building certifications in order to create environmentally and resource-friendly buildings with high economic and social efficiency, which can be used flexibly over generations and have a positive effect on the health, well-being and performance of users.

ÖGNI was founded in 2009 and is a cooperation partner of the DGNB (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltige Immobilienwirtschaft), whose certification system has been adopted, adapted to Austria and has been continuously further developed ever since. ÖGNI is the only Austrian council to be an established member of the WorldGBC (World Green Building Councils) and strives to strengthen the European quality certificate at international level.

Sto Foundation

Under the motto "Fostering knowledge," the Sto Foundation seeks to shape the future through education. The overarching purpose of the Sto Foundation picks up on the Sto SE & Co. KGaA's guiding principle "Building with Conscience" and raises awareness for the importance of designing an environment and human-friendly living spaces. Since its founding in 2005, the non-profit foundation has been fostering the next generation of construction industry personnel – future painters and plasterers, aspiring architects, interior designers and building designers. €600,000 is available annually for scholarships, workshops, seminars, and lecture events. Over the past decade, more than €3.5 million was made available for more than 140 projects that benefit the construction industry's next generation. The two funding areas – architecture and building trades – are treated equally. Many young craftsmen are successfully progressing up the Sto Foundation's educational pyramid, from an apprenticeship to a university degree; or continue their education and training in one of the international exchange programs or practice-oriented projects often while engaged in dialogues with architects from all over the world.Architecture, interior design, and building industry students have to prove in international summer schools that they can transfer their knowledge to real-life situations. They are devoted to sustainable design and building, and are working in the field together with volunteers from different cultures.These students find out first-hand how their role models think and work from representatives of world-famous architecture offices. Weissenseer GmbH

Knowledge and experience characterize the history of Weissenseer. Since its founding in the 1930s by the grandfather of the current owner and managing director, the company has been working on the building material wood. At the beginning, classical carpentry constructions were still in focus, later the element construction for wooden houses and multi-storey timber construction became their main interest.

The WCB-Factory – Weissenseer Compact Building-Factory – is a highly compact, efficiency-optimized factory in which highly energy-efficient buildings and building skins (Smart Skins) are modularly manufactured in the smallest of spaces. Intensive research into the development of innovative manufacturing solutions in connection with the building material wood was the key to this novelty.

Demand increases sharply as the WCB factory can be used anywhere in the world, regionally and directly on site. This enables forward-looking partnerships and new business models.

Real estate development: As a project developer the Vienna Business Agency values energy efficiency and sustainability as important factor in real estate development. ENERGYbase was the first business property built to the passive house standard and certified as “green bulding”. In “aspern Vienna’s Urban Lakeside”, the Technology Centre Seestadt was constructed as the first energy-plus commercial building. FUTUREbase, the newest project of the Vienna Business Agency, will include high-end building and energy technology while balancing economic efficiency.

MA 20

The energy planning department of the City of Vienna initiates and designs the future-oriented development of Vienna's energy system. The focus lies on promoting energy innovations,  initiating and supporting  pilot projects,  coordinating and further developing energy-related concepts,  bundling of competencies and the transfer of knowledge.

The Vienna Department of Environmental Protection (MA 22) is entrusted with various important issues of preventive, integrative and partnership-based environmental conservation in Vienna.

MA 50

Within the framework of the housing promotion programme, the MA 50 awards a number of research projects, which serve to evaluate and further develop housing and urban renewal in Vienna. These include the continuous monitoring of the Viennese housing market, the social accuracy of the housing promotion, accompanying research on innovative housing projects or the analysis of future - also international - trends in the field of housing.

Architektur ohne Grenzen Austria

AoGA is a non-profit, globally active organisation with its seat in Vienna, Austria. Together with over thirty partner organisations from five continents, AoGA is a member of the parent organisation "Architecture Sans Frontières International".

The aim of AoGA is to use architecture in all its facets to improve the living conditions of disadvantaged people, regardless of their ethnic origin or political and religious convictions. AoGA works closely with its future residents in order to develop a built environment that corresponds to the social and cultural needs of the prospective users. The right to housing, social development, education, work and health care plays an essential role and supports a community in its development.



GRÜNSTATTGRAU is the Austrian competence centre and central coordination unit for raising issues about the future of urban green environment, innovations and ideas for green cities, for activities targeting research dissemination and knowledge transfer, technical implementation knowledge, participation management and economic and social cooperation concerning Green Infrastructure and nature based solutions on buildings.
The aim is to promote all levels of green on buildings through communication, demonstration projects, business incubators, law and policies activities – not only on national, but also on European level. The intention is to upscale and share the results with all partners in the European network and market (knowledge transfer). The instruments of GRÜNSTATTGRAU include a large-scale demonstration testbed, the entirely green implemented neighbourhood in Vienna, a mobile Green Living Laboratory on roadshow and a multi-stakeholder online platform to develop and offer own supporting tools, services and technologies.


klimaaktiv is the Austrian climate protection initiative and integral part of the Austrian climate strategy. klimaaktiv’s primary objective is to launch and promote climate-friendly technologies and services. In doing so, klimaaktiv focuses on high standards of quality, provides education and training of professionals, gives advice and cooperates with a large network of partners. University of Applied Science Technikum Vienna

University of Applied Science Technikum Wien became the first institution in Vienna to receive the status of a university of applied sciences. With around 11,000 graduates thus far and roughly 4,400 students, the UAS Technikum Wien is Austria’s top address for Technology and Innovation. The educational offerings consist of 13 bachelor’s and 18 master’s degree programs, which are offered as full-time, part-time and/or distance study programs. Four degree programs are taught in English. The educational offerings are based on a solid scientific foundation and are also practice-oriented. At UAS Technikum Wien, emphasis is not only placed on providing a high-quality technical education, but also on subjects with a focus on business and personal development.
