A group of Green.Building.Solutions. Summer University (GBS) scholarship holders will have the chance to put their theoretical knowledge into practice at the Sto Foundation’s “Hands-On Workshop”.

During the third week of GBS, instead of group project work, 16 students will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with expert trainers.

Together with university students learning to be master painters (MeistermalerInnen), participants will have the chance to physically build a wall from the base building to the final exterior finish using Passive House techniques – a process used by painters in Germany – and present their final outcome on the final day of the workshop.

This knowledge transfer of the construction process is extremely valuable and is a major contribution to convey practical knowledge to architects and planners.

During the three-day workshop, students will gain experience in the insulation of exterior walls to a Passive House standard, as well as a special focus on the demonstrations of different details, including foundations, plastering and windows.

Four craftsmen and 12 architecture students will be chosen to take part in the workshop, which is taking place at Technische Universität Wien (TVFA hall) from 03 to 08 August. It starts with a get-together of participants, instructors and organizers on Sunday, 02 August at the afternoon and ends up with the final presentations of the workshop activities together with the group projects on Saturday, 08 August.

If you would like to be in with a chance of attending the Sto Hands-On Workshop, please indicate your interest on the GBS application form – all conditions concerning ECTS, certificates, etc. remain. You can complete an application form here.
