Summer time is drawing ever nearer – and with it, the registration deadline for the two pioneering summer universities AEMS and GBS! Don’t miss your chance to meet likeminded people from all over the world and to discover innovative ideas on the topic of sustainability!

Which topics will be covered?

Alternative Economic and Monetary Systems (AEMS)

AEMS deals with global developments like social inequality or overall ecological degradation and the human-made systems of economy and

finance lying at the base of them. Therefore, students discuss the flaws related to this current “boom-and-bust”-mentality together with internationally renowned experts from various fields. They get the chance to deepen their understanding of the complex interconnections between politics, economy, society and ecology and their relevance for developments we face today – climate change being one of them. Understanding the problems is important, however, the main goal of the summer university is to provide its participants with an overview on alternative approaches and innovative reform proposals for transforming the economic and financial systems – under consideration of social and ecological factors.

Upon graduation, students will receive a certificate on 5 ECTS from the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna (BOKU University).

Green.Building.Solutions. (GBS)

GBS addresses the various facets of sustainable planning and construction. Taking into account ecological, economic, technical as well as social aspects, students get a deeper understanding of sustainable building solutions. The academic summer university on master level emphasises topics like passive house technology and energy efficiency

and is therefore especially aimed at students and professionals from related fields. Participants are provided with expert knowledge and are guaranteed an outstanding learning experience: with the summer course taking place in the city of Vienna – a global pioneer in sustainable building technologies -, students get to see theory put into practice via excursions, guided tours as well as site visits.

After successful completion of the GBS, participants are accredited 7 ECTS by the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna (BOKU University).
