Certificate & grading
For those students, who apply before April 20 2018, there is the possibility to get an official certificate with 7 ECTS-credits from the University of National Resources and Life Sciences Vienna (BOKU) after a successful completion. For foreign students this certificate needs to be acknowledged by the home university, if you are not sure about the procedure – please ask at your home university in advance. Everybody who takes part in the 3-week-program gets an official certificate for participation from the organiser.
The scholarship-deadline extended until June 30, 2018! Please apply as soon as possible, to guarantee a successful application process.
Project work in teams: During the third week of the summer university there is a final project work (done in groups), on the basis of that design work, the participants are graded. In 2016 the project work specialized on the very actual topic ‘integrative living for new immigrants’. Students had the task, to design new housing developments following social, economical, and ecological sustainability principles. Excursions to VinziRast and to Kurierhaus in Lindengasse – that hosted around 600 refugees in September 2016 – showed an authentic situation in Vienna. Renewable energy supply (e.g. photovoltaic panels, solar thermal, heat pumps, etc.), ecological construction materials and social architecture were to be integrated into the building design.
Each team was to submit detailed drawings for one building on one A0 page following a given template. The aim of the project is to achieve an annual zero energy balance. Find some examples of the final posters of the projects 2017 here.
